Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Labor and Delivery - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 04/19/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview - Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs - Hours: 36 hrs/wk - Start Date: Apr 19, 2026 - Length: 13 weeks - Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery/Postpartum position at a hospital in Massachusetts, requiring a minimum of 3 years of L&D experience and an active MA RN license. Details - 25-bed Labor & Delivery/Postpartum unit encompassing L&D, Postpartum, Newborn Nursery, 2 ORs, 2 recovery rooms, and 2 antepartum rooms with 4 beds - Average daily census of 15–25 mothers, babies, and laboring patients - Nurse-to-patient ratios: L&D 1:2–3 (evaluations), 1:1 (active labor, magnesium drip, or epidural); Postpartum 1:3–4 - Rotating shift position primarily on days with rotation to evenings and nights as needed; every other weekend required - Shifts rotate between 7:00am–7:30pm, 11:00am–11:30pm, and 7:00pm–7:30am - 1 night of call per schedule included - 36 or 48 hours per week - No floating required - EMR: Epic (charting experience required) - 13-week contract Requirements - Active MA RN license required — no pending or conditional licenses accepted - Required certifications: BLS (AHA only), ACLS (AHA only), NRP, and EFM (NCC, K2, or AWHONN accepted; 2-year renewal required) - Minimum 3 years of Labor & Delivery experience required - Required skill sets: Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, OR circulator, and Newborn care - 2 professional references required for consideration - Flu vaccine required; no religious or medical exemptions accepted - Epic EMR experience required Additional Information - Responsibilities include caring for laboring, postpartum, and newborn patients, as well as circulating in the OR - Straight day shifts cannot be offered due to a union agreement — rotation to evenings and nights is required - Local candidates must maintain a permanent residence more than 60 miles from Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston to be eligible for the standard travel pay rate - RTO (time off requests) must be disclosed at the time of consideration - Timekeeping system: UKG/Kronos - Parking is not validated at Boston locations; public parking is available at rates ranging from $17–$22 per day American Traveler Job ID P-680738.
