Radiation Therapist Location: Boston, MA Agency: Ambition 24Hours Pay: Competitive weekly pay (inquire for details) Shift Information: Days - 5 days x 8 hours Contract Duration: 7 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Title Radiation Therapist Job Summary The Radiation Therapist delivers precise radiation treatments to patients under physician supervision, ensuring proper dosage, patient safety, and adherence to treatment protocols. The therapist prepares patients and equipment, monitors patient conditions, and maintains accurate treatment records while collaborating with the care team. Key Responsibilities Prepare and position patients for treatment according to established procedures Review patient treatment charts for prescription, dosage, and treatment time Explain procedures to patients and families, addressing concerns and reassuring them Administer radiation therapy according to prescribed protocols Place blocks and wedges as required for treatment accuracy Monitor patients during treatment using intercom and video systems Track patient physical condition, including skin changes or reactions, and consult physician if necessary Calculate surface dose, depth, cumulative, and total radiation doses when required Assist physicist with measurements, contours, and treatment plan verification Maintain and clean equipment, perform safety inspections, and report malfunctions Keep treatment rooms stocked with supplies and maintain organized, clean work environment Document all treatments accurately in patient charts Follow infection control, safety, and hospital protocols Provide high-quality patient care across age groups: pediatric, adult, geriatric Participate in continuing education and stay current with radiation therapy techniques Mentor and train new team members and students Perform other related duties as assigned Required Qualifications Associate s Degree or equivalent in Radiation Therapy or related field from an accredited institution Knowledge of Radiation Oncology practices, equipment, and patient care procedures Analytical skills to determine proper equipment setup, treatment length, and detect adverse reactions Strong interpersonal and communication skills for patient interaction Familiarity with treatment planning, imaging, and hospital EMR systems
