Orientation and Mobility or Special Education, Certification as a
Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS), and 1 years
Orientation and Mobility Specialist experience required. Applicants
who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. An
opportunity is available for an Orientation and Mobility Specialist
(OMS) to support students in a K-12 school setting in Boston, MA.
This contract position spans the school year (CSY) and focuses on
providing specialized mobility and orientation services to visually
impaired students. Location: Boston, MA Position Type: Contract,
full-time (37.5 hours per week) Schedule: Monday through Friday,
8:15 AM to 3:15 PM Caseload: Serving K-12 students of various ages
Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement individualized
orientation and mobility plans to enhance student independence and
safety Provide direct instruction and support to students with
visual impairments in navigating their school and community
environments Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other
professionals to tailor strategies to meet student needs Conduct
evaluations and maintain accurate records of student progress
Ensure compliance with state licensing and school policies
Qualifications: Active Orientation and Mobility Specialist
(O&M) license in Massachusetts required Experience working with
children across K-12 grade levels preferred Strong communication
and collaboration skills for working with students, families, and
interdisciplinary teams Ability to work onsite at the school
location full-time This full-time contract role is based onsite in
the Boston area and offers the chance to make a meaningful impact
on the educational experience of students with visual impairments.
Qualified candidates who meet the licensing and skill requirements
