Position Summary The Before & After School Teacher is responsible
for creating a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment for
preschool and school-age children in an EEC-licensed program. This
role supports childrens social-emotional, academic, and physical
development while maintaining full compliance with Massachusetts
Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) regulations. The
Teacher implements engaging activities, ensures consistent
supervision, and builds strong relationships with families and
school partners. Key Responsibilities Child Supervision & Safety
Maintain active supervision of children at all times across all
program areas. Ensure full compliance with EEC licensing standards
, including staff-to-child ratios and safety procedures. Manage
transitions, attendance, and authorized pick-up verification.
Respond appropriately to incidents, injuries, and emergencies,
completing all required EEC documentation. Program Delivery &
Curriculum Support Implement developmentally appropriate lesson
plans and enrichment activities. Facilitate learning in areas such
as STEM, literacy, creativity, fitness, and social-emotional
learning. Support homework and academic needs for school-age
students. Create an inclusive classroom environment that promotes
learning and positive peer interactions. Classroom Management &
Behavior Guidance Apply positive guidance strategies aligned with
EEC regulations and program policies. Foster respect, cooperation,
and responsibility through restorative practices. Maintain a
welcoming and well-organized classroom setting. Family & School
Communication Build strong, professional relationships with
families through daily communication. Collaborate with school staff
and administrators to support student needs. Represent the
organization with professionalism and integrity at all times.
Operational & Administrative Support Maintain accurate records,
logs, and reports according to EEC standards. Participate in staff
meetings, required EEC trainings, and continuous professional
development. Assist with daily setup, cleanup, and snack
distribution. Qualifications Required Must be EEC-Qualified
(Teacher or Lead Teacher qualification preferred). Minimum age and
training requirements as defined by EEC. High school diploma or
GED. Prior experience working with preschool and/or school-age
children. Ability to pass all state-required background checks and
fingerprinting. Strong communication, supervision, and classroom
management skills. Completed EEC 2.0 Virtual Trainings Preferred
Coursework or degree in Early Childhood Education, Child
Development, Education, or a related field. CPR/First Aid
certification. Experience in an EEC-licensed program or OST
setting. Core Competencies Child-centered and developmentally
informed decision-making. Professionalism, reliability, and strong
work ethic. Creativity in creating engaging, hands-on activities.
Ability to stay calm, organized, and flexible in fast-paced
settings. Team collaboration and positive problem-solving approach.
Work Schedule & Compensation Schedule: Morning shift (before
school), afternoon shift (after school), or both. Hours: 1025
hours/week depending on site needs. Compensation: Competitive
hourly rate aligned with qualifications and EEC teacher level.
